Jason Hawkins, CFF®
LICENSED AGENT/MORTGAGE LENDER
Jason Hawkins, CFF®, Founder & President
Jason got his start in the financial industry straight out of college in 2001 with Northwestern Mutual, working as a financial advisor. During his time at Northwestern he was one of their top producing first year agents. He completed the necessary requirements to become Series 6 and 63 licensed, so I that could further assist clients with their investment accounts.
As Jason’s career progressed, he pursued other professional training in the area of Sales and Management with larger corporate organizations such as Enterprise Rent A Car, Republic Bank, and Advent Financial. All the while Jason was continuing his education and training as it relates to the financial industry. These experiences opened the door to him becoming a prop trader for a private equity firm out of NY.
Jason later went on to develop his own proprietary day trading strategy that allowed him to trade multiple accounts each day in full automation. However, after more than 5 years of professionally day trading in volatile market conditions, he grew to appreciate the boring and consistent returns of insurance products. And, had a much greater appreciation for products that were tax efficient.
Ultimately this is how Lightpath Wealth Advisors was born. Jason loves to spend time with people educating them on the many benefits of using insurance products to grow and accumulate wealth in some of the most tax efficient vehicles in existence. As a Certified Financial Fiduciary®, his goal is to provide our clients with education and empower them to make informed decisions about where they save and invest their money.
Scott Geiser, Financial Operations Director
Scott is a recognized strategic consultant supporting our advisory team with evidence-based investment support and modeling. As a licensed agent, Scott contributes to defining the Lightpath’s financial planning process, researches emerging planning topics and techniques, monitors the ever-changing investment landscape.
Before joining Lightpath, Scott was a senior member of Salesforce Cloud’s Services division, leading predictive intelligence and automation strategies for their enterprise-level clients. Additionally, Scott has also held leadership roles as Digital Marketing Lead at Yum Brands and most recently as Chief Innovation Officer at Power Agency.
Scott graduated from the University of Louisville, where he played baseball for the Cardinals. He still resides in Louisville, KY with his wife, Beth, and son, Jack. When not in the office, Scott stays active coaching youth sports, playing golf and exercising.
Dave Carter, Financial Advisor
David’s primary focus is helping individuals and families navigate the transition from working to retirement and living on a fixed income. To accomplish this, David specializes in social security maximization strategies, income planning, and helping people reposition their at-risk investments into top performing no-risk investments that will outpace inflation. In addition to the retirement transition planning, David also works with young working professionals to help create a tax free wealth accumulation strategy, helping to ensure they are well positioned for retirement when the time comes.
Before joining Lightpath, David spent 11 years in Operations, Management, and Customer Service at a local financial institution, most recently as a Vice President and Director. David has a proven track record of leading teams and developing operational processes and procedures within a growing, fast-paced, and highly regulated business.
David and his wife Caitlin, and their two children, Ava Grace and Owen, reside in Louisville, KY. When not in the office, David enjoys golf, U of L sports, and spending time with his family. Also, David and his family enjoy spending as much time as possible at Lake Cumberland.
Jim Secrest, Licensed Agent/Mortgage Lender
Jim has a deep passion for helping families position themselves financially so that they have the ability to take care of their family in many ways. After living through the crash of 2008 Jim knew there had to be a better way to invest his money without taking on the risk of a down market. Partnering with Lightpath Wealth Advisors has given Jim the tools he needs to secure not his family’s financial future but all others he meets.
Prior to partnering with Lightpath Jim spent 20 years in the Consumer Finance and Mortgage industries, holding positions in both Operations and Sales Management. Jim has a proven track record of helping companies position themselves in markets to maximize their potential for growth, which involves creating transparent communication between the operations and sales team. Jim’s current banking relationship allows him to offer products that most banks can’t offer.
Jim received a Bachelor of General Studies degree from the University of Kansas, where he was a four-year letterman on the Varsity Tennis Team. Jim achieved All-American status in 1989 by reaching the Quarterfinal of the NCAA Division I Tennis Championships, where they beat the #1 ranked team in the country from South Carolina. Jim and his wife Shawn, and their two boys, Jacob and Michael, reside in Overland Park, KS. Jim continues to play in national tennis tournaments, however, his real passion is playing golf with his boys.
